It is official! DesignsByBert switched to Mac OS X.
After examining Microsoft VISTA we decided it is time to move on and leave the Windows OS behind.
Microsoft VISTA has nothing to offer to improve reliability and workflow for us at this point. We have waited several years for this new operating system from Microsoft. We are not impressed!
We dealt with MANY blue screens, random freezes, frequent reinstalls of the Windows Operating system, etc. Even the new Windows VISTA punished us with blue screens.
I believe the time is right to make the switch. Mac OS matured to a point that I could comfortably say, OK Let’s DO IT.
A new Mac Pro with 9GB Ram and 2TB hard drive space has been added June 9th, 2007.
It took about two weeks to transfer all files and only a few days to adapt to the Mac OS X operating system. It truly is a breeze.
All major applications we use are now also available for the Mac OS X platform.
We switched about two weeks ago and have yet to restart the machine. We have yet to experience a single freeze or crash of an application. So far we are VERY impressed with the reliability and performance of this system. This is completely new to us!
We did not say goodbye to the Windows Operating system though. We have it running in a window under Mac OS X for compatibility sake. How convenient switching to Mac OS X and still be able to run Windows within Mac OS X.
Things should settle down soon and we will be ready for new products at DesignsByBert.
How does the switch effect our Windows customer? Not at all! If anything we will be able to also make our products more Mac friendly.

The new business icon pack for Agenda One is in final stages.
All icons for the business icon pack have been created. all that is left to do is packaging and integrating into the website.
It will be released through our website later today (23 April 2007) or tomorrow (24 April 2007).

I officially started with the creation of a new icon pack for Agenda One. It will be a business icon pack.
The release is scheduled for end of March 2007.

Icons no longer have to be installed manually. With the help of SBSH the makers of Papyrus we are now able to offer you a SIS file which is a symbian os setup file.
This update is free to all customers of this product.
If you already installed the icon set then there is no need to upgrade.
This update is primarily for people having problems finding the installation path.
You can download the update through your Handango or DesignsByBert (Mobihand) account you have created to purchase this product.

I usually listen to music while I am working. No specific genre. Every genre is fine as long as it doesn't containing any foul/offending lyrics which people if they would use that kind of language at work would get fired in an instant.
For some reason it seems to be ok nowadays to produce, broadcast and sell this kind of music.
Anyways, I though wouldn't it be a great idea to be able to listen to my music wherever I am in the world?
I installed an audio stream server which I am currently using and testing. So there will be no set times when the link is working. Right now it is online when I am working or the computer is running.
The server allows multiple listers at the same time so I thought why not offer my users to tune in for free.
All you need is an audio player compatible with streaming MP3 audio like WinAMP, JetAudio, XMPlay, XMMS, iTunes, etc.

Just Mobile goes Online.Mobis Technology approached us to develop and design their new website ‘JUST MOBILE’. It is all about quality accessories for mobile devices. So the main requirement is to put a professional and clean looking face to their company, represented by a new website.
The challenging part was to fit a whole website project into the limited budget for this website.
I usually do not create websites anymore, but sometimes it still triggers a voice in me saying ‘YOU MUST DO WEBSITE NOW’. Due to the budget limitations I skipped flash animations and all that other funky jazz.
The communication with the client was great and fast, just the way I like it.
My philosophy is ‘get it in and get it done ASAP’.
For websites like this you depend on images and content from the client. My part is to alter the art work so it fits well into the overall website design. Putting this in a presentable and professional form was the main priority.
It is a conservative website considering the programming. I used HTML and simple CSS. For this type of website this more than sufficient.
I created a bunch of optimized GIF animations to ad some momentum to the site. How boring would be still images. You would probably fall asleep before reaching a second page. My motto things have to move and that, in moderations.
This website is a perfect example of how to create a professional clean website with simple programming and good design.
The client was very pleased with the result and went online today with their new website.

The long awaited update version 2.520 of Papyrus IconSet Symbian Edition, is finally available.If you bought it through our store you should be able to log into your account and get this update free of charge.
The same should apply for purchases made at Handango. We do not know how long they need to reflect the changes we have made to the product database. Handango is very slow regarding site updates.
